Donald MacDonald Bridge Architects, FAIA, provides nationally acclaimed design services for featured bridges (such as the new East Span of the San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge, additions and modifications to the Golden Gate Bridge, and the architectural design for the new Cooper River Bridge in Charleston, South Carolina).
Early design concept.
MacDonald Architects hired me to create their entire web branding identity. The project involved:
- Design and development of the site's visual identity, navigation, and architecture
- Research and preparation of all the visual assets (animations, images, drawings, etc)
- Programming of all interactive elements
Of particular interest for this project was my collaboration with the client on using the new site as an educational tool (as well as a medium for marketing). The nature of architectural design and the client's willingness to give me access to a large amount of the studio's content allowed the site to feature some interesting components: QuickTime videos of high profile projects, an assortment of architectural drawings, models, and computer renderings, and narrative that is presented in a story-like format. The given approach allowes the reader to understand the project history, design process, and goals for each of the firm's 15 completed bridge projects.
