MACDONALD ARCHITECTS, FAIA
PROJECT DATES: September - November 2001
[ www.donaldmacdonaldarchitects.com ]Donald MacDonald Bridge Architects, FAIA, provides nationally acclaimed design services for such bridges as the new East Span of the San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge, additions and modifications to the Golden Gate Bridge, and the design for the new Cooper River Bridge in Charleston, South Carolina.
MacDonald Architects hired me to create their entire web branding identity, which involved:
- Design and development of the site's visual identity, navigation, and architecture
- Research and preparation of all the content assets (animations, images, drawings, etc)
- Programming of all interactive elements
Of particular interest was my collaboration with the client on detremining how to best use the new web site as both a marketing tool AND as an educational tool. The client's willingness to give me access to a large amount of the studio's content allowed the resulting web site to feature some interesting components: QuickTime videos of high profile projects, an assortment of architectural drawings, models, and computer renderings, and narrative that is presented in a story-like format. The given approach allows the reader to understand the project history, design process, and goals for each of the firm's 15 completed bridge projects.
